The day 2 of our Bohol adventure continued as we took on a whole day journey to the see the historical and top tourist destinations of Bohol. So let's begin...
The first destination was the Blood Compact site or also known as the Sanduguan in Filipino. I only got to see this in movies, and yet there I was, I became part of the history.
Who would have thought I can be with the pre-historic heroes, in style. |
Sanduguan or Blood Compact was considered as the first treaty where the Spaniards and the Filipinos sealed their friendship. The blood compact was done by cutting their left arm with a dagger, and pouring their blood into a cup filled with wine, which they drank in honor of their friendship.
The next location was to pay a visit to the biggest and largest python captivity in the Philippines, Prony. Prony is a female phyton captured by a couple named Eugenio and Georgia in Alburquerque, Bohol in the year 1996. The couple made the phyton as their pet for two decades until she died.
This is the preserved body of Prony. |
Prony was known as the "Anaconda of Bohol". The couple preserved and exhibited the lifeless body of Prony for the tourists, like us to see.
The wildlife sanctuary also took care a lot of animals, and other pythons too.
Yes, it was such an experience to be sitting next to a snake, and touching, holding, or carrying it. Their skin is scaly and glossy at the same time. They are also very heavy.
I was literally shaking when I sat beside it, and to top it up, I touched it. |
Another moment of candor to actually carry it. hahaha |
After visiting Prony, we dropped by at the Butterfly Garden. Now, I don't have to explain what to expect inside the garden. hehehe. They have this haven where butterflies are free to fly around, you can even catch them, like what I did. But be careful not to hurt them though.
Can you guess which one is the male and the female butterfly?
The one at the top is the female, and the one at the bottom is the male. The male butterfly has deep dark spots on each hind wing, whereas the female hind wings are spotless.
They also framed some butterflies with defects. If you can closely look at each one, you can see that there wings are disproportionate from the other.
As we closely reach the end of the garden, beautiful flowers and trees were scattered waving us goodbye (metaphorically of course).
Then, we headed out for lunch at the Loboc River Cruise. They had unlimited lunch buffet, and while enjoying the river view, you get to listen to a live band playing.
Amazing!!!! |
The cruise led us to an island where we took pictures, and watched some aetas playing music and dancing. It was really fun.
After lunch, we continued on to our journey.
Next destination was the infamous Chocolate Hills, but before we headed on, we decided to play around a bit and tried the 4x4 ride around the path through the Chocolate Hills, so we can have a closer encounter.
We went for an hour drive. Our tour guide that showed us the path, and served also as our camera man. COOL!!!
We got to take pictures and made the Chocolate Hills as our backdrop. hehehe
The scenes were epic, it was so surreal. After that tiring 4x4 ride, we headed on to Carmen, Bohol for a finer-top-of-the-world view of the Chocolate Hills.
Along the way to Chocolate Hills, we passed by the man-made forest, it was glorious!!
Once we've reached the destination, we climbed 214 steps to reach the top of the observation hill. Don't worry, it's a small step, you can handle it.
The last but not the least, a tourist in Bohol should not miss seeing the Philippine Tarsier.
The Tarsier is one of the smallest primate, almost as big as your fist. It's very shy, sensitive and delicate, and because of that features, tourists are no longer allowed to touch or hold them as they may tend to get stress and die. Camera flashes were also prohibited.
We again, climbed the top of the forest to have a better look at the Tarsiers. |
You must really be quiet to capture good shots of these babies, otherwise you may scare them away.
Yep, that pretty much summed up the whole day in Bohol.
EVERYTHING WAS SIMPLY A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!!
It's time to head back to the hotel, and take a some rest.
Yes, it's time to leave. |
It won't be the end of our day 2 in Bohol without dropping by the beach and watch the beautiful sunset.
