Philippines is rich not only with natural resources but also with culture and history. There's a lot of places to see, people to learn from and cities to explore. So I said to myself, one should get to see first the beauty of one's own country before the world, and here we are in the historical island of BOHOL.
Every year during holy week, people are fleeting to book family vacation trips out of town, or out of the country. Last minute plans won't get you anywhere, either prices are way too expensive or hotels are fully booked. Even if you plan and book your trip 3-4 months in advance, prices and availability is still quite expensive or full. (you know where I'm getting at right?)
That's me on the left side with both arms raised and with a super-smile face, hehehe that's my sister on the right side. |
I am planner, and a bit of a control freak, so instead of initially planning to avail a tour package from an agency, which was super duper expensive, I challenged myself to arranged my family's Bohol adventure, and besides it was way cheaper than the tour package thing. It took me months and months researching the places to visit, the resort to stay, and the budget. I love doing this kinds of things so the challenge was more like a hobby. hehehe
Here's what I came up with:
1. We will spend 4 days and 3 nights in Bohol. Day 1 up to day 3 1/2 will be allotted for site seeing, exploring Bohol, and other fun activities. 1/2 of day 3 up to day 4 will be allotted for the beach, pool, and sun bathing. PERFECT!!
2. We will stay in Dumaluan Beach Resort 2. It is a beach front resort with an outdoor swimming pool located in Panglao City, and our stay has an inclusive of free breakfast buffet. The resort is more of a quiet, and relaxing place away from cars, noise, and party. Since i'm with my folks, I think the place is just right for them to relax.
3. We will arrange a rent a car with a driver for 3 days to help us tour around Bohol. He will pick us up at the airport, take us to our resort. Then the following day, he will pick us up at our resort, begin the tour, and will return us back, safe and sound to the resort.
In case you're wondering, the rent-a -car we hired was JMJ Transport Bohol, they're legit and very reliable. Check out their website: http://www.jmj-transport.com/
Now, ALL is settled and planned.
Yes, my shades are on. Let's do this!!!! |
Day 1
We booked our plane tickets in Air Asia because they have cheaper flights compared to other airlines. Our Departure time from Manila was around 10 am, and we arrived in Bohol around 12nn. The half of the day will give us a time to explore Bohol, and not a single minute to be wasted.
Our driver waited for us at arrival area in Tagbilaran airport. It was really nice that someone was already waiting for you. You do not have to wander around looking for taxi and asking people where to go.
Touchdown! Tagbilaran airport |
That's our hired driver by the way, ready to pick us up. |
And this is my dad. (smileys) |
Our driver first took us in Bohol Bee Farm to have lunch. All food were organic and were really good, especially their jams. Then we got to have a tour around Bee Farm. They have several farm activities like basket weaving, organic farming, and bee culture. They have tickets for this by the way, I think it's around P20-50 per person.
I don't have a solo picture with my mom, so she's at the right side beside my dad. |
This is the Bohol Bee Farm restaurant. |
These are the herbs and spices they're growing. There are more of these located in different places. |
This is the weaving section. You are free to try them. |
I did some weaving myself. hehehe |
There's also an interesting mini lecture about bees. Fun fact, there's only one female bee in a colony of bees, all the rest are worker bees which are male. The queen bee is a bit of a sl*t huh? hahaha |
After that educational tour, we went to Hinagdanan Cave. There's also ticket for this, around P20-50 per person. The entrance to the cave is a small hole where you need to walk down the stairs. Once you reached the cave, there's an underground lake, you can have a swim if you want, and the cave light only came from the sunlight that filters through the holes of the ceiling. The cave was WOW!!!
We are almost at the end of the Day 1 tour, well, almost.
Next was the Shell Museum where it showcased various common and rare specimen of Bohol and the Philippines. It was extraordinary to have numerous kinds of shell. Tickets were also needed, it costs around P20-50 per person.
Behind the Shell museum is a treetop house. I explored it a little. |
Last was the Dauis Church, or the Church of Our Lady Assumption, no ticket is needed for this, that's for sure, hahaha. The church is one of the oldest stone churches in the Philippines, but when we got there, it was under construction. Dozens of people, and old buildings, including churches were damaged and destroyed due to the 7.2 magnitude earthquake that hit across Central Visayas last October 2013. But we Filipinos, as strong as we are, we got back up and continued living our lives happy.
This was the Panglao Watch Tower when we got there, it's also under construction. It's one of the infrastructures that was destroyed because of the massive earthquake. |
Followed by the historical tragic event, it was time to head on to our resort and rest. The room we got was very spacious, there were 2 queen sized beds, the toilet and bathroom was also big, there's a cable TV, a small refrigerator and a balcony.
We got the Executive Family Room goof for 4 persons. |
Well, do you think that's the end of Day 1? Of course not, we left our things at the room, changed our clothes and went straight out to the beach to enjoy the sunset. It was AMAZING!!!
Since it was low tide, there were star fish and sea urchins appeared on surface. |
Awww my parents are sweet! Who says that holding hands while walking along the beach and watching the sunset are for young couples? hehehe
We went on for a night walk along the beach, had a lovely dinner, and enjoyed the free acoustic band in the restaurant.... Then dozed off on our soft comfy bed, ready for another Bohol adventures the next day...
Of course, we also shared some sisterly love!! |
