EXPLORE BOLINAO PANGASINAN

Sunday, March 27, 2016

It's summer time again!!! Are you folks ready to explore and seek some adventures? We don't need to travel across the country, we got it all here at the top of Western Luzon; Bolinao Pangasinan. So buckle up guys, it's going to be a long ride.

How we got there

My family doesn't own a vehicle so we travel via commute. From Manila, there are bus liners like Victory Liner and Five Star found in Cubao and Pasay. They don't differ in price, but I suggest you take Victory Liner, because the seats are spacious and clean. The cost of transportation per person is P459 plus P5 for the insurance. We got to the terminal at 9:30am. There's a 30-minute duration before departure, so our bus departed at 10:00am. The travel time is around 6-7 hours.

Where did we stay

We booked an overnight stay at SCL Garden Resort for P3,000, it is a beachfront resort located in Patar Road Bolinao, Pangasinan. The resort was under renovation during that time so there's not much to do. However, the place was so serene and beautiful, you can really enjoy the waves of the ocean and the blow of  the wind. You may check their website www.sclgardenresort.com

Perfect spot to watch the sunset

They also have a floating table cabin so you can enjoy the water even more.

How did we roamed around Bolinao

The only transportation around Bolinao is tricycles. When we got to Bolinao Bus Terminal, there were numerous tricycle drivers bargaining with other tourists, so we also made arrangements with one of the tricycle drivers to be our private tour guide to take us to places and back to the bus terminal the following day for P1,500, which I think is reasonable enough, given the remote distances from one tourist destination to the another. Our tricycle driver was Christian, and his number is 09267273646.

Where did we go

1. Adora's Restaurant

I don't have an actual picture of Adora's Restaurant, but there a parade during our visit

After a good night sleep at the resort, we headed on for a breakfast at Adora's Restaurant. This is one of the most famous eatery in the city.

Here was the parade during that time.

Though I didn't know what the event is all about.

2. St. James Church

One of the oldest churches in the Philippines. It is a short walk from Adora's Restaurant so it won't be a hassle if you can stop by to pray a little and adore it's ancient beauty.

3. Bolinao Falls 1 and Bolinao Falls 2

This is also a glorious place. You can take a swim if you want, but I suggest you bring with your plastic shoes, and a life vest. The floor of the falls is a bit stony and deep, so better be safe.

4. Enchanted Cave

They have monkeys swinging around trees, but don't be alarmed, they're in chains to avoid any harm.

Another beauty of Bolinao, it is 6 feet deep when it's low tide, but it can go as high as 10 feet during high tide. Fun fact, the primetime series Dysebel of Marian Rivera was shot at this very Cave.

5. Cape Bolinao Lighthouse

Cape Bolinao Lighthouse is along the way to Patar beach, so we stopped by and admired the towering edifice which stands for over 10 decades already. It is actually one of the five main lighthouses in the country. Another fun fact, the movie The Promise of Angel Locsin and Richard Guiterrez was shot at this place.

6. Patar White Beach

Patar white Beach is one of Bolinao's pride. It's clear blue crystal water, and the white fine sand was amazing. It also has an excellent view of the shoreline and there are a lot of rock formation. It is also not yet congested with noise and trash. There are available cottages around if you want to have an overnight stay, or you can also set up your own tent.

Bolinao is such a relaxing place, a definite escape from the City.

Though my family and I didn't spend another night in Bolinao, after exploring the province for the whole day, we headed back to the bus terminal going to Hundred Islands, Alaminos Pangasinan for yet another day of adventure.
