DECEMBER AT PORACAY PAMPANGA

Thursday, January 07, 2016

Beaches and pools are often associated during the scorching heat of summer, and I often wonder what it feels like taking a plunge during the cold season of December. That mouse's curiosity slowly turned into a reality when a few friends invited her for an overnight wander in Poracay Resort located in Porac, Pampanga.

Yes, Poracay Resort is spelled with "P", you might have mistaken it from Boracay.
To substitute commuting, we rented a jeep to take us to the resort, so I wouldn't be able to help you how to get there via public transportation. But if you're bringing your car, it is much easier, you may use Waze, or Google Map. The vicinity is a bit hidden, and you have to drive through a dessert-like road, so it's a bit dusty. Fun fact, the sand that you will see there are actually the remnants of Mt. Pinatubo when it erupted last 1991, cool huh?

When we arrived at the resort, there wasn't too many people as we expected it to be, probably it's not the season of  bikinis and swimming. Before we explored the resort, we headed on to our villa.
We booked Villa D that was good for 10 persons. The villa was very spacious and air-conditioned. There's a living room with a TV, but don't expect cable, it couldn't read USB devices also. There's a dinning room with a small refrigerator and a stove. There were 2 rooms, each room has 5 beds (1 double sized beds, and 2 double decks), and each room has their own toilet and bathroom. Since there're 14 of us, couples decided to share 1 bed instead, how sweet!
After a chaotic debate which room and which bed we'll sleep in, we rented a grill worth P100 with a deposit of P700, which will be refunded once you returned the item, then started preparing and cooking all the food we brought; pork barbecue, chicken barbecue, hotdogs, fish, and pork with broccoli. I'm sure there were still a lot of food I could not recall.

Before taking a dip, we first strolled around the resort to check what's in store. Technically, there's no beach, only pools, and a man-made lake which was kind of cool. There's a lot of fun activities you can do like zipline, kayaks, skycycling, hydrozorbing, high ropes, and henna tattoos.
We swam around 7pm, and OMG the water was freezing cold, like ice. We kept on shrieking and at the same time swimming. However, the longer you stayed on water, the more your body will adapt to the cold temperature. We even played a little game to ease the cold.
So far, the experience was really good and the place was amazing. Now I know what it feels like swimming in December. Should I do it again you say? Probably I'll pass, hahaha I love love love swimming so much, so I'll enjoy it more if it's summer where I could spend the rest of day on water, but don't get me wrong, I'll still go, so I can take pictures and share the experience with you.

P.S. I wasn't able to bring my camera during this trip, so pictures are taken from http://www.poracayresort.com.ph/
